This is a senior delivery-focused role requiring strong technical fluency, engineering leadership and the ability to integrate Business, Product, Architecture, Security, Platform and Engineering stakeholders.
The Engineering Lead will ensure that technical specifications, requirements, dependencies and acceptance criteria are sufficiently defined and delivery-ready before build commences and will coordinate engineering teams to deliver against agreed scope, quality and timelines.
The role requires strong expertise in Integration Architecture Blueprint and Design Solutions, with the successful candidate expected to operate at an expert level in this area.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating between technical design and engineering execution, providing delivery governance, resolving blockers and ensuring successful progression through build, testing, release and stabilisation.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week
Contract Type:Â Contract role for approximately 13 weeks
Conditions:
- Immediate availability is essential.
- Appointment is subject to a successful credit check.
- Candidates must be able to meet the client’s onsite and availability requirements for the duration of the assignment.
Start Date: Immediate
Key Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end technical delivery through the build phase, ensuring work is sequenced, controlled and aligned to agreed priorities, scope and milestones.
- Coordinate Business Product Owners, Technical Product Owners, Architecture and Engineering teams to maintain delivery clarity and momentum.
- Develop, review and oversee the readiness of integration architecture blueprints, technical specifications and supporting design and build artefacts.
- Ensure technical requirements, specifications, dependencies, interfaces and acceptance criteria are sufficiently defined before development begins.
- Translate business and product requirements into coordinated technical execution plans.
- Direct and coordinate engineering and development activities across multiple teams and workstreams.
- Facilitate alignment between architecture decisions, integration design, technical specifications, backlog priorities and engineering execution.
- Manage delivery risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and decisions across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Track progress against milestones and proactively intervene where blockers, design gaps, resourcing constraints or delivery risks arise.
- Provide delivery governance, status reporting and escalation management.
- Act as the practical integration point between technical and integration architecture design intent and build execution.
- Ensure engineering teams have the clarity, specifications and dependencies required to execute effectively.
- Support readiness for testing, release and implementation by ensuring build outputs are complete, controlled and traceable.
- Support production release, hypercare and stabilisation activities.
- Balance technical quality, delivery pace and operational stability throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Coordinate delivery across internal teams, technology functions, vendors and implementation partners where applicable.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience working within software development or engineering environments.
- Proven experience leading large, multidisciplinary engineering or software delivery teams.
- Demonstrated experience owning or leading technical delivery across complex enterprise technology programmes.
- Expert-level experience in Integration Architecture Blueprint and Design Solutions (P4 or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices and application architectures.
- Experience with cloud-native and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of API-first and microservices architectures.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and integration-heavy platforms.
- Demonstrated experience across the software development lifecycle, including design, build, testing, release, hypercare and stabilisation.
- Experience working within Agile, SAFe or hybrid delivery environments.
- Practical understanding of secure software development practices and non-functional requirements.
- Strong exposure to DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines and production release governance.
- Experience working closely with Product Owners, Business stakeholders, Architecture, Security, Platform, UX and QA teams.
- Proven ability to manage technical delivery risks, dependencies, issues and escalations.
- Experience operating within large enterprise or mission-critical environments.
- Experience delivering technology solutions within regulated environments, such as banking, financial services or other highly governed enterprise environments, is advantageous.
- Experience working across multi-vendor or partner environments is advantageous.
- Formal training or certification in software engineering, architecture or cloud technologies is advantageous.
