About the Employer
The client is a leading luxury adventure travel company operating exclusive expeditions from Cape Town. They are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to partner with employees and leadership across the full employee lifecycle. This hands-on position is responsible for recruitment, employee relations, compliance, performance management and HR administration, ensuring all people processes align with South African labour legislation and organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job profiling, advertising, interviewing, offer management and onboarding.
- Prepare and submit Employment Equity plans and annual reports to the Department of Employment and Labour.
- Coordinate Skills Development submissions (WSP/ATR), fulfil Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) responsibilities, and administer learnership and bursary programmes.
- Implement and manage performance management frameworks, including KPAs, KPIs, performance reviews and poor performance processes.
- Administer payroll systems, employee benefits and leave management.
- Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary hearings, grievances, CCMA conciliations and arbitrations, and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR reports, job descriptions, policies and procedural documentation.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, including exit interviews and termination procedures.
- Provide guidance to managers and senior leadership on employee relations, performance management and Employment Equity compliance.
Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of five years’ HR experience within South Africa, covering the full employee lifecycle.
- Previous experience within the hospitality or tourism industry is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation, including the BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA, OHSA, POPIA and COIDA.
- Solid understanding of employee relations processes and CCMA procedures.
- Experience administering payroll systems and employee benefits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience working with an HRIS.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- A people-focused, adaptable approach with the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to advise managers and senior leadership.
- High levels of professionalism, confidentiality and ethical conduct.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial/Organisational Psychology, Business Administration or a related field.
Advantageous Qualifications and Experience
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) accreditation.
- A Certificate in Payroll Administration (SAGE or VIP/Pastel Payroll).
- COIDA knowledge certification.
- Experience working within a growing or fast-paced organisation.
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Work Model: Hybrid (one day working from home, with additional flexibility)
Salary: R35,000 – R42,500 CTC (depending on experience)
