About the Role:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a strong background in credit or financial analysis. Reporting to the Credit and Analytics Executive. This position involves deep dives into large data sets to understand portfolio behaviour, identify risk patterns, and support key business decisions. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in refining our credit models, strengthening portfolio monitoring, and shaping data-driven strategies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine and interpret extensive credit data to uncover trends, concentrations, and potential risk exposures.
  • Design, update, and validate scorecards, risk models, and related testing frameworks.
  • Prepare clear, insightful reports and dashboards on portfolio performance, arrears, and exposure levels.
  • Apply quantitative and financial methods to evaluate how macroeconomic and sector developments affect credit risk.
  • Work closely with risk, finance, and data teams to ensure data integrity and improve analytical processes.
  • Provide management with evidence-based insights on portfolio segmentation, credit appetite, and policy adjustments.
  • Support initiatives that automate and streamline credit analysis and reporting activities.

 

Technical Competencies

  • Strong command of analytical and data tools such as SQL, Python, R, or advanced Excel; experience with Power BI or similar BI platforms will be an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of credit risk concepts, portfolio management, and relevant regulations (e.g., IFRS 9, NCA).
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field (postgraduate or certifications advantageous).
  • A minimum 5 years’ working experience in credit risk, portfolio analytics, or financial modelling essential.
  • Experience in Credit Lending advantageous
  • In line with the Employment Equity (EE) Plan, preference will be given to suitably qualified Employment Equity candidates and persons with disabilities.
  • SQL or Python or related tools essential
  • Experience in designing scorecards, risk models and testing frameworks
