Free State Provincial Treasury Graduate Internships 2026

The Free State Provincial Treasury, in partnership with the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET), is offering unemployed South African graduates an opportunity to gain practical workplace experience through its 24-month Graduate Internship Programme.

A total of 15 internship positions are available in areas including accounting, auditing, finance, economics, information technology, data science, construction project management, risk management and law.

The programme is based in Bloemfontein, Free State, and is intended for graduates who have completed relevant qualifications and have not previously participated in an internship programme.

Preference will be given to qualifying young people who are residents of the Free State Province.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be a South African citizen.
• Be unemployed.
• Have successfully completed the qualification required for the internship being applied for.
• Have not previously participated in an internship programme.
• Meet the qualification requirements specified for the relevant position.

Preference will be given to eligible youth applicants who are residents of the Free State Province.

Qualification Verification

Graduates who have completed their studies but have not yet received their qualification certificate may still apply.

In such cases, applicants must provide:

• An official academic transcript.
• A letter from the relevant tertiary institution confirming successful completion of the qualification.

Previous Internship Participation

Applicants who have previously completed an internship programme will not be considered.

Candidates are required to disclose any previous internship participation. If it is discovered during recruitment or after appointment that an applicant previously participated in an internship but failed to disclose this information, their internship contract may be terminated immediately.

What the Programme Offers

The 24-month programme is designed to provide graduates with meaningful exposure to the workplace while allowing them to apply the knowledge and skills gained through their studies.

Interns will receive structured workplace learning and on-the-job training within the Free State Provincial Treasury. The experience is intended to help participants:

• Develop practical skills related to their qualifications.
• Gain exposure to workplace systems and procedures.
• Apply academic knowledge in a professional environment.
• Develop workplace readiness and professional capabilities.
• Improve their prospects of entering the formal employment market.
