FirstRand International Postgraduate scholarships

FirstRand International Postgraduate Scholarships are a group of fully funded awards for South African citizens pursuing Master’s or PhD degrees at international universities, aimed at developing future leaders who will contribute to South Africa’s growth after completing their studies.

Types of Scholarships Available (12 total):

  1. Two FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar Scholarships

  2. Three FirstRand Empowerment Foundation Scholarships

  3. Several partner scholarships (e.g., at Oxford, IHE Delft, IE School, University of Sussex

Who Can Apply:

  • South African citizens (no prior overseas degree study)

  • Academic excellence with strong leadership, character, and community engagement

Core Requirements: 

  • Must have applied and ideally received an acceptance letter from your chosen international university before or soon after applying for the scholarship.
  • Recipients must return to South Africa for at least five years after completing their studies.
