About the Training Programme

The AGSA SAICA training contract is designed to help trainee auditors complete their professional articles while developing the technical knowledge and workplace skills required for a career in auditing and accounting.

Participants will gain practical experience through involvement in audit assignments and will work within professional teams responsible for delivering quality audit outcomes.

The programme also provides exposure to various aspects of the audit process, from planning and conducting audit procedures to analysing financial information and preparing audit documentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Trainee Auditors will provide support to audit teams throughout different stages of the audit process.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with audit planning and execution.
  • Performing audit procedures.
  • Reviewing and analysing financial information.
  • Gathering and documenting appropriate audit evidence.
  • Assisting with financial compliance assessments.
  • Supporting engagements with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Contributing to audit reporting and the completion of audit assignments.

The position is intended to provide meaningful practical experience while allowing trainees to develop the competencies needed for their future professional careers.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should preferably hold or be pursuing one of the following:

  • Certificate in Theory of Accounting (CTA).
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA).
  • CTA or a SAICA-endorsed undergraduate degree.

Candidates must also:

  • Be eligible to register for the Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC).
  • Be based in South Africa.
  • Meet the applicable Employment Equity requirements.
