An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Software Developer & Azure Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing IT team. Based in either Plattekloof, Cape Town or Bryanston, Johannesburg, this role combines software development with Microsoft cloud and infrastructure administration.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining internal business applications while managing Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, and core networking services. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, improving business systems through automation, and working across a broad range of technologies.

Working Hours

This is a full-time position with standard office hours. Occasional after-hours work may be required to support system deployments, maintenance, or critical technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

• Design, develop, and maintain internal web applications and RESTful APIs using clean, scalable code.
• Develop and optimise MySQL databases that support business operations.
• Test, deploy, and maintain applications while resolving bugs and performance issues.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation for applications, systems, and development processes.

Cloud & Infrastructure Management

• Administer Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and hybrid identity environments.
• Manage Windows Server environments, IIS, SSL certificates, and networking services including DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
• Provide second and third-line technical support for Microsoft platforms, desktop environments, and remote users.

Automation & Innovation

• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell or Bash to streamline system administration and repetitive tasks.
• Leverage AI-powered development tools, including GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT, to improve productivity and code quality.

Minimum Requirements

• At least three years’ experience in software development and Microsoft cloud or infrastructure administration.
• A Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong development experience with PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS or Tailwind CSS, SQL, and MySQL.
• Practical experience administering Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows Server, and IIS.
• Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and Git version control.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Advantageous

• Microsoft certifications such as AZ-900, AZ-104, MS-900, MD-102, or SC-900.
• Experience with Python, Linux, Docker, or other containerisation technologies.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Graph API or other third-party API integrations.
• Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools and modern development environments.
