Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitorโs IP address and browser user agent string. This information helps us detect and prevent spam or malicious activity.
An anonymized string (or hash) may be created from your email address and shared with the Gravatar service to determine if you use it. The Gravatar serviceโs privacy policy can be found at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture (if linked to Gravatar) will appear publicly next to your comment.
We may use automated spam detection tools to ensure that our comment sections remain safe and free from inappropriate or fraudulent content.
Media
If you upload images or files to our website, please ensure that they do not contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website may be able to download and extract location data from publicly visible images.
By uploading content to our platform, you confirm that you have the rights to use that content and that it does not infringe on the rights or privacy of others.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with
Career Jungle does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third parties. However, in limited cases, we may share information to ensure site functionality or comply with legal obligations.
If you request a password reset, for example, your IP address may be included in the reset email as a security measure. We may also use trusted third-party service providers (such as hosting platforms or analytics tools) that assist us in maintaining the website. These partners are bound by confidentiality agreements and are only permitted to use your data as necessary to perform their services.
ย
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This helps us automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of placing them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our site (if applicable), we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except for their username. Website administrators can also access and edit that information to ensure data accuracy and compliance with our policies.
If you complete the Contact Us form, the personal details you provide, including your name, email address, and any message content, may be securely retained for a period of up to five (5) years. This retention allows us to maintain proper business records, respond to follow-up inquiries, and comply with applicable legal or administrative requirements. After this period, your information will be securely deleted from our systems unless further retention is required by law.
What rights you have over your data
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data that we hold.
If you have an account on our site or have left comments, you can request an exported file containing your personal data, including any information youโve provided. You may also request that we erase your data, except where we are legally required to retain it for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
To make a data access or deletion request, please contact us via our websiteโs contact page.
ย
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments and form submissions may be checked through automated spam detection services to ensure the security and integrity of our platform.
We may also store data on secure servers located within South Africa or with reputable international providers that comply with global privacy standards such as GDPR or POPIA.
All data transfers and storage are managed with appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure.
